EcoChallenge - One Planet Footprint

Students from LBED 3420 'Why Ancient Wisdom Matters In The Modern World', were assigned a challenge: model a sustainable lifestyle inspired by one of the Northwest Coast indigenous culture's traditional lifestyles. Knowing that the First Nations people of British Columbia have lived here since time before time, and lived in harmony with their surroundings before White contact, we felt it would make sense to investigate how they created a sustainable existence in the very environment we now inhabit. What did they know that we need to know so that we can thrive in the natural world, and our natural world can thrive along with us. We call this perceived reciprocal relationship (a relationship we have failed to achieve in 'real life') living in truth. The irony is, of course, until we live this life, none of us are, in fact, living in truth. But we need to begin somewhere... and the imagination is always a good place to start the creation of anything.
